European review

European review
Barcelona and Inter Milan both failed to secure their respective titles, as Rangers took a huge step to landing the SPL title.

Barca had the chance to lift the Primera Liga crown on Sunday, but they were held at home by Villarreal - likewise Inter could have wrapped up the Scudetto with a win but they could not beat Chievo.

Rangers beat Celtic at Ibrox to move into pole position in Scotland, whilst Bayern Munich moved level at the top of the Bundesliga.

It also was the final day of the season in Holland and Portugal.

La Liga

Everyone thought that Barca would be crowned champions this weekend, after Real Madrid lost 2-0 at Valencia on Saturday.

However, Barca could not take advantage as they were pegged back by Villarreal at Camp Nou, as the Yellow Submarines came from behind to claim a 3-3 draw.

Serie A

It was the same story in Italy, as Inter Milan missed the chance to all but wrap up the title. Inter could have moved nine points clear of nearest rivals AC Milan but they could not get past Chievo who grabbed a 2-2 draw. Milan consolidated their place in second as they played out a 1-1 stalemate with third placed Juventus.

Bundesliga

Mario Gomez grabbed a remarkable four goals to help Stuttgart hammer league leaders Wolfsburg 4-1. That loss allowed Bayern Munich to move level at the top of the table and they made no mistakes as they powered past Energie Cottbus 3-1.

SPL

Steven Davis' goal gave Rangers a 1-0 win over arch-rivals and champions Celtic. The win sends the Gers two points clear at the top and puts them in pole position for the title. At the bottom, basement side Falkirk moved to within two points of St Mirren as they drew 1-1 at Kilmarnock, whilst The Buddies lost 3-1 at home to Motherwell.

Eredivisie

The final day of the Dutch season saw Ajax secure third spot as they beat Twente 1-0. At the wrong end of the table, FC Volendam were relegated as they drew 2-2 at De Graafschap, whilst Roda escaped the drop with a 3-2 win at Feyenoord.

Ligue 1

There was no domestic league action in France this weekend due to their cup final - which saw a shock as Ligue 2 side Guingamp beat Stade Rennes 2-1.

Best of the rest...

Porto regained the Portuguese title on the last day of the season as they defeated Nacional. The Belgian title race will go to the last day of the season as Anderlecht and Standard Liege both won at the weekend. Besiktas have gone top in Turkey with three matches remaining as they beat Ankaraspor, whilst Sivaaspor suffered a shock home defeat.

Elsewhere, Dynamo Kiev (Ukraine), NK Maribor (Slovenia), GP Skopje (Macedonia) and F91 Dudelange (Luxembourg) secured their domestic crowns.
