Espanyol starlet earns interest

Espanyol starlet earns interest
Sources at Espanyol claim Pablo Saranova is attracting interest from a number of clubs, but there has yet to be an approach regarding the young midfielder.

Arsenal have been linked with the 16-year-old, who has been compared to Gunners captain Cesc Fabregas after shooting to prominence with Espanyol's B Team this season.

And it has now been confirmed that representatives from unnamed clubs have been attending junior matches, however, they have not engaged in any transfer enquiries.

"Some scouts have been at matches of the junior team but nobody has spoken to us about Pablo Saranova," an Espanyol source told skysports.com .

Saranova, who is reported to have been on Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger's radar since January, is currently under contract on an amateur basis, meaning he could leave the club in the summer when he would be eligible to sign professional terms.

Espanyol, though, are hopeful that the left-sided player will remain in Spain beyond the end of the season.

"The kid has the spirit of Espanyol and we are optimistic that he will stay with us," added the source.
