Henry - I needed time

Henry - I needed time
Thierry Henry has admitted it took him time to adapt to life in Barcelona after his move from Arsenal in the summer of 2007.

The prolific France international ended his eight-year association with the Gunners when he signed for the Camp Nou outfit in a Ј16million deal.

But the goals which flowed so freely during his career in North London were harder to come by in Spain and question marks were raised over Henry's future with the Catalan giants.

The 31-year-old feels he now has a greater understanding of the way football is played by Barcelona.

"It is a different type of play, the life here in Barcelona and with the club," Henry told Sky Sports News .

Adapt

"It's a very particular way that Barcelona play, no other team play that way. It is a very positional game with a lot of short passes.

"That is the Barca way to play, people love to see that here and I had to adapt to the system and the game. The team is playing a lot better this season."

After ending his first season with Barca without any silverware, Henry is hoping to make amends this term with the club leading the way in La Liga, into the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League and into the final of the Copa del Rey.

He added: "This season is going so far, so good, as you say in England, but we have still not won anything.

"We are trying to fight and give our best all the way, not think too much about what can happen in the future and just play game-by-game.

"We want to carry on playing the Barca way and hopefully if everything goes well we can win something, but nobody is sure of that, we just have to carry on fighting."
