Atletico Madrid defender Johnny Heitinga is set to miss Holland's upcoming 2010 World Cup qualifiers.
The Dutch are due to face Scotland and Macedonia in a crucial double-header on the road to South Africa.
However, they will have to make do without Heitinga after he suffered a head injury during a Primera Liga fixture at the weekend.
The 25-year-old lost consciousness following a collision with Majorca's David Navarro, but was 'out of danger and in good general condition' after leaving hospital on Monday.
"The tests revealed that he suffered a crack in his frontal bone, specifically in the roof of his eye socket and doctors have ordered him to rest for one week," read a statement released by Atletico.
"Heitinga will be unable to join Holland for their next two matches in which they face Scotland on Saturday and Macedonia on 1st April."
