Deco: I'm Leaving

The Portuguese international's current deal with Barcelona only expires in June 2010, but it is understood that the club have given his agent the green light to start negotiations with other teams.

Deco has been one of the most avid critics of Barça's current situation, having claimed back in December that he would seek a new challenge in case of another trophyless season.

Barcelona fans expressed their unhappiness with Deco by whistling the 30-year-old whenever he had ball in last weekend's game against Mallorca, which only came to confirm his unsatisfactory situation at the Catalan club.

"I would never stay like this. I want to be where I am wanted and when things end like this, it is better to go," Deco said. "I thank the club for being honest with me."

Deco has ensured that his new challenge will come from another country as he does not want to stay in Spain, after serving Barcelona for four years.

"I will go to England or Italy, I can assure you. In Spain, no, because the only club that can match Barça's level are Real Madrid and I would never go there."

The Right Stuff

And while the Brazilian-born player thinks that it won't be hard for Barça to find a replacement for him, he stressed that his performances this season have not been what many have suggested.

"If I go, whoever comes will do it right. Gerrard, Cesc, Lampard... it won't be difficult for Barça to find someone to replace me. I hope that I have a good Euro tournament - that's the only thing I have left this season.

"It is hard to play a season at the highest level with injuries, but I believe I played well in about 80 per cent of the games."

On Barcelona's incoming boss, Josep Guardiola, Deco said: "He is young and very ambitious, he will do a good job. It will be a great team."

Villarreal Silent Over English Rumours

The Liga side have had an excellent season domestically and will finish in second place whatever happens on the final day, ahead of Barcelona and behind only Real Madrid.

With Champions League football therefore beckoning, Villarreal are looking to strengthen all areas of their side, particularly with regards to experience.

Both Campbell and Crouch having played in Champions League finals in recent years, and ergo the duo fit the bill. What's more, the Portsmouth stopper and Liverpool forward are both said to be open to the idea of a foreign move.

Villarreal, however, are declining to comment on the links that have been reported in both Spain and the UK.

"We are working on some names, but we never disclose details in the press," Villarreal general director Jose Manuel Llaneza told Sky Sports.

"In a few weeks we want to complete our squad ahead of a big campaign in Europe. This will be our challenge next season."

Campbell’s former Arsenal team-mate Pascal Cygan is due to leave El Madrigal at the end of the season after being told that he is surplus to requirements.

Meanwhile defender Martin Caceres, who gave an exclusive interview to goal.com earlier in the season (see here), is due back from his loan spell at Recreativo shortly and is expected to be given an important role next year after an impressive season.

Levy Set For Eto'o Talks

Spurs boss Juande Ramos has identified Eto'o as his primary target to lead their forward line next season and Levy is determined to do all he can to secure the services of the Cameroon striker.

The Evening Standard suggests that Levy will fly to Barcelona on Sunday to begin talks with the club over a £27million move, as he attempts to steal a march on Inter Milan, who are also interested in signing the twenty-seven year old.

Eto'o indicated in an interview with Sky Sports on Thursday that he would enjoy the challenge of proving himself in the Premier League, and Levy is hopeful that will be enough to tempt him to join Spurs, despite a lack of Champions League football.

Levy would be required to break the club's wage structure in order to finance the £100,000 a week that Eto'o would request, but seems willing to do so in order to sign one of the most highly-revered strikers in world football.

The push to sign Eto'o is surely an indication that Spurs have resigned themselves to losing Dimitar Berbatov over the summer, with the money raised from selling the Bulgarian to one of his potential suitors sure to help fund the move for Eto'o.

Tottenham have already completed the signing of Croatian playmaker Luka Modric and if they could add Eto'o to their squad it would be a further signal of intent ahead of a season in which they hope to break into the top four.

Jiménez Dismisses Laudrup Rumours

Jiménez took charge at Sevilla when Juande Ramos left to join Tottenham in October and despite overseeing the team's rise up the league table, he was unable to steer them into a Champions League qualifying position.

His failure to do so has seen a number of coaches linked with a move to the Sanchez Pizjuan for next season and the latest to be attached to the potential vacancy is Michael Laudrup, after his agent Bayram Tutumlu hinted as such in a radio interview on Wednesday morning.

Jiménez has been questioned about his future throughout the season and believes that the current rumours are nothing but agent talk, designed to let other clubs know that Laudrup is available.

"[Tutumlu] has to find a new club for Laudrup if he wants to leave Getafe and this seems like a good way of doing it to him," he told reporters at a press conference on Wednesday.

"I am not nervous about [my future], I am only ever nervous before a game of football."

One man who looks certain to be on his way out of Sevilla is Daniel Alves, and Jiménez was diplomatic when questioned on the Brazilian's proposed move to Barcelona.

"If they do sign him then they will sign one of the best full-backs in the world," he concluded.

Manchester United Target Miguel

The British club are reportedly keen on bolstering their defensive options, with the arrival of a new right-sided defender being a longtime wish of boss Alex Ferguson.

Although Manchester United's number one transfer target was said to be José Bosingwa, Chelsea's quick move for the 25-year-old has made the Scottish veteran turn his attention to the Valencia man.

And Miguel, who has been a first-team choice since moving from Benfica in 2005, has not ruled out a summer transfer despite saying that he is happy with life at Los Che.

Valencia are reportedly going through a financial crisis, and since off-loading some of their main stars seems to be their only option, they should not hinder a lucrative offer for Miguel.

It is understood that a fee of €15 million will be enough to persuade Valencia to allow the Portuguese player, who will be at Euro 2008, to go to Old Trafford.

Iniesta: Remember The Good Times

Barcelona doctor Ricard Pruna confirmed earlier on Wednesday that Ronaldinho would not recover from injury in time to play a part in Barça's final game of the season away to Murcia on Saturday.

With rumours of a summer move to Italy or England continuing to rage on, it seems that the Brazilian has probably played his final match for Barcelona and Iniesta believes that supporters should cherish the good memories from his time at the club.

"Each person is entitled to their own memories, but the ones that remain for me are the good times that Ronaldinho brought to the club," he affirmed.

"We must forgot this season that is coming to a close and make sure that we remember him for the positive things he has done for the team."

Ronaldinho's arrival at Barcelona in 2003 heralded the dawn of a new era at the Camp Nou, and after a second place finish in his first season at the club, Ronaldinho played a crucial part in the team that took the next two titles, winning two FIFA World Player of the Year awards in the process.

He was also part of the team that won the Champions League in 2006 and regardless of his troubles over the last year, is sure to be fondly remembered by Barça's supporters for years to come.

Ronaldinho To Miss Barça Last Fixture

The Brazilian star made his last appearance for Barcelona on the 9th of March against Villareal, and has been sidelined since tearing a muscle in his right leg.

Although it was speculated that Ronaldinho would regain full fitness to participate in Barcelona's last game of the season against Murcia, Pruna has ensured that the 28-year-old will be an absentee on Saturday.

The Barcelona doctor did not believe last week that Ronaldinho would be able to play this game, since "this case is about recovering from an injury and not to compete at all costs."

"Ronaldinho won't be in Murcia because it would be hasty and a mistake, but his injury won't leave any sequels," he said.

Pruna, meanwhile, confirmed that he is confident that Ronaldinho is fit to continue playing at the highest level, criticizing the alleged medical undergone by the player two weeks ago on a private clinic in Barcelona.

"It is not correct to say that someone can no longer play at this level when he is injured and has been sidelined for some time. However, Ronaldinho has the right to ask for a second opinion.

"Due to his condition and his quality, it won't be difficult for him to return to his level," Pruna added.

Rumours abound that 'Dinho is to leave Camp Nou in summer, maening that he may have already played his final game in a blue-and-red shirt.
