Three months out for Albin

Three months out for Albin

Espanyol have confirmed that Uruguayan striker Juan Albin will be out for around three months after tearing a muscle in his right leg. The 25-year-old left-sided forward sustained the injury in last Sunday's 2-1 victory over Athletic Bilbao. Albin was forced from the pitch after just 12 minutes of the contest and tests have now confirmed he faces an extended period on the sidelines. The player, who also damaged a tendon in the incident, will undergo surgery on Wednesday to correct the problem. The news will come as a big blow to Espanyol coach Maurizio Pocchetino who has already found his forward options stretched this season - indeed, he was forced to replace Albin with untested French youth product Thievy in Sunday's match. Albin arrived at the Barcelona-based team this summer after spending five seasons at Getafe.
