Alves rules out Anzhi switch
Barcelona full-back Dani Alves has rubbished rumours suggesting he could be the next high-profile arrival at Anzhi Makhachkala. The ambitious Russian outfit burst onto the scene once their wealthy owners secured the signature of legendary Brazilian defender Roberto Carlos. They have been working hard to bring in further fresh faces since then and enjoyed considerable success this summer. A big-money deal was put in place for Samuel Eto'o, and the Cameroonian has left Inter Milan to enjoy the considerable riches on offer in Russia. It had been suggested that a number of others could follow his lead, with Alves reported to be among them. Gossip The Brazil international has, however, moved to quash those rumours by insisting that he remains fully committed to Barca. "I want to remain a Barcelona player," Alves said in Marca. "There was a lot of gossip and a supposed offer from Anzhi, but at the moment I want to play for Barca. "In the future I might think about it, but not now."
