Gianfranco Zola has named Eidur Gudjohnsen as a possible summer target as West Ham bid to bolster their attacking options.
The Hammers recently revealed that forward Luis Boa Morte could be out until the New Year after sustaining anterior cruciate ligament damage.
With strike partner Dean Ashton looking bound for Stoke, Zola has limited options up front heading into the new season.
The Italian has been strongly linked with a move for Inter Milan's Mario Balotelli this week, with Carlton Cole now the only fit recognised striker.
Keen to bring in more than one name, he admits that a move for Barcelona striker Gudjohnsen would not be completely out of the question.
Wait and see"Lots of players have been linked to West Ham and Gudjohnsen is one of them," he said.
"We would love to have him playing for us, but we will see what happens.
"We have to be more effective going forward and certainly we are on the lookout for another striker.
"I don't know who it will be, but hopefully somebody will come."
He added: "I am thinking more about Boa Morte himself, not about how I can replace him.
"My main concern is that he is better as soon as possible."
