Real Madrid are not alone in registering their interest in Maicon as several clubs have made it clear that they would like to sign the Inter Milan defender in the summer, according to his agent.
Antonio Caliendo has spoken out again about the Brazilian's position having recently explained that he could have left last year if the Serie A club had not turned down a huge offer.
Maicon, 27, is attracting interest again this term and Florentino Perez has been reported to have his name on a list of potential new signings should he become president of the Spanish giants once again.
"Yes, there is interest from Real Madrid," he told Teleombardia . "But it is not only los Blancos, because Maicon is the number one in his position."
Whether to increase pressure on Inter or to make other clubs aware that now would be the time to step up their pursuits should they want Maicon, Caliendo has made Madrid's interest public.
Caliendo has claimed that making statements regarding interest from other clubs has nothing to do with a desire for an improved contract with the Nerrazzurri.
Perez is planning a major overhaul of players at the Bernabeu should he win the election and is rumoured to want the majority lined up before announcing if he will stand at all.
InjuryMeanwhile, Maicon's season could actually be over after he picked up a bad leg injury whilst on international duty with Brazil.
He was stretched off during their 1-1 draw with Ecuador and Inter admit they are waiting on results.
"I spoke with Brazil's chief doctor during the night. Unfortunately, he confirmed that Maicon has a serious injury in his right leg," Inter doctor Franco Combi told the official club's website.
"We agreed Brazil's doctor will take care of the player until his return to Italy in about 10 days' time. When he returns to Milan we will do further tests to see how the injury is, and then proceed with a rehabilitation programme."
