Iniesta is Barca for life

Iniesta is Barca for life
Andres Iniesta has stated his desire to spend the rest of his playing career at Barcelona.

The 24-year-old has recently been linked with a move to bitter rivals Real Madrid after a survey revealed him as the most sought-after Spanish player by fans of the club.

But the influential midfielder is adamant he will not be exiting Camp Nou, even if whoever wins the presidential election at the Bernabeu approaches him with a big-money offer.

"I have a contract until 2014 and, God willing, I will retire with Barcelona, which is my dream," he told Marca .

"Everyone wants to be somewhere, and I just want to be here."

Hope

He is also confident that team-mate Victor Valdes will remain at the club, despite the goalkeeper failing to reach an agreement over the signing of a new contract.

"I hope that Victor has a lot of time (left) with us. I think that is his wish and that of the club," he added.

"As a team-mate and friend, I can only wish him well and hope that this issue is resolved soon."

Iniesta has missed out on Spain's two World Cup qualifying matches with Turkey through injury but is hoping to make a return for his club side against Valladolid on Saturday.

He believes that Spain's qualifying campaign will not suffer from his absence.

He said: "I feel better and hopefully it (the return) may be next Saturday.

"Spain has already won without me and will continue to do so, and without many other players. Fortunately, teams do not rely on just one player."
