Vicente Boluda has been confirmed as the president of Real Madrid - until June at least.
Boluda had only held the post on an interim basis but a General Assembly of club members on Sunday saw 943 voting to keep him in place, with 248 votes against and 26 abstentions.
Sunday's meeting replaced the flawed General Assembly of 7th December after which former president Ramon Calderon was forced to step down amid allegations of electoral vote-rigging.
However, Boluda confirmed at the beginning of the replacement meeting that the club intend to hold fresh presidential elections in June.
A poll published in sports paper Marca on Sunday suggested that former president Florentino Perez is the overwhelming favourite to win the forthcoming elections.
Perez was president between 2000 and 2006, overseeing the so-called 'Galactico' recruitment policy that saw superstars such as Luis Figo, Zinedine Zidane, Ronaldo and David Beckham join the club.
According to the poll conducted by the Sigmados Institute last week, Perez can expect to win more than 67 per cent of votes from Real's members if he decides to stand.
