Zambrano was promoted from his role as B team coach when the club parted company with Victor Munoz in February and successfully led the team to survival, although did so by going down to the wire on the final day of the season.
Nevertheless, the achievement in itself was enough for him to earn the trust of president Francisco Mendoza, who confirmed that Zambrano would stay in charge for next season at a press conference on Friday.
The coach was delighted to have been given the chance to continue his work at Recre and is looking for a steady improvement from the side next season.
"We are going to work hard in order to continue our growth as far as our humble resources and common sense will take us," he told reporters.
"We will only keep the players that want to be here and are willing to commit fully to achieving our objectives."
New Goalkeeping Coach
As well as the extension for Zambrano, Recre also announced their replacement for Tottenham bound goalkeeping coach Hans Leitert.
The new man charged with training the keepers at the Nuevo Colombino is José Manuel Santisteban, who enjoyed two spells with the club as a player in the mid-nineties and leaves a similar role at Cartagena to join Zambrano's coaching team.
